A THIRD STEP MEDITATION PRACTICE
Every meditation technique has a purpose.
Is not the
purpose of our program to stay sober and become sane?
Meditation (just being quiet in some way) relieves
stress, which is the the big cause of relapse, and moreover allows us to
become conscious of our inner life.
For most of us our inner thought life is dominated by thoughts about the past and the future: regret, self loathing, wishing we had made different decisions, worry about the future, and so forth.
AWARENESS IS CURATIVE
When we notice these negative thoughts, they diminish. With repetition they disappear.
